Happy Friday, ya’ll! Not sure about you, but this weather has me pulling out all my favorites – sweaters, coats, and none other than the season’s favorite – boots! Let’s be honest, those booties came out a while ago (catch my share on seasonal transition) but now they’re in their seasonal spotlight for all to enjoy! Today’s post shares a round up of our seasonal favorite.

Boots and booties come in several styles. You have the option to choose style and shape (ankle, OTK, Chelsea, low heeled, block heeled, rain, wedged) or color (neutral, printed, textured). The choice can be slightly overwhelming, wouldn’t you say? To narrow down the broad class, I’ve chosen several of my favorites that are a must in my Fall closet. Some must haves made the list based on color, and most I grounded on style preference.
Note* In no way do I think it’s necessary to have a pair in each of these categories. One could easily minimize and cut the list to fit lifestyle and preference. I’d be remiss if I didn’t share tho – and ya’ll know I am one for lists and strive to ensure variety.
Color over style:
Neutral pair: heel/no heel by preference : If you know me, you know I love a good taupe shoe. A taupe shoe (or boot in this case) prevents your look from becoming busy and spotlights the favorited Fall palette and prints nicely. Other options considered neutral are shades of brown and at times cognac.
Solid black pair: heel/no heel by preference: Every girl needs a good black boot. That is considering you enjoy wearing black. It truly is the most versatile.
Statement bootie: I love to have a good statement boot for the season, something to pair with the neutral palette in closet and also to add a bit of fun to my look. Naturally ya’ll know my preference for leopard – so this season, that’s what I’ve gone with! Another popular statement boot this season would involve snake print!
Style over color:
Ankle bootie: I love the look of these, and often wear them with cropped denim or pants! Those considered ankle usually hit right below the ankle bone. This particular style renders the need for a good no-show sock! I’ve found these perfect!
Peep toe bootie: Obviously as temps drop and rain sets in, a peep toe may not be my first choice, but I love how these dress up any look, but still are considered a ‘boot’. Wear them with dresses and skirts, or to dress up your denim!
OTK / Knee high boot: OTK boots and knee high boots are new(er) to my closet; within the past year or so, I’ve really come to love the style. Heeled boots give an instant dress up to any look and flat ‘riding’ boots look cute with dresses or casually over skinny jeans.
Casual boot (rain boots): I hate to admit this – tho I grew up in the PNW, I’d never owned a pair of rain boots. For realz. I honestly have no idea how I survived. Come to think of it, I often sported the wet jean hem look. (not cute) If you live anywhere where there’s rain, slush, wet grass – having a good pair of rain boots is a must. I wear these a lot with my leggings or skinny jeans.
It’s a matter of personal preference and budget, but booties and boots are an item I allow myself the splurge. Similar to the intentions of a capsule build, I am intentional about what I purchase and bring into my wardrobe. Boots and booties are no different. Yes, I may buy a new pair of booties every year during the #nsale, but not because they were ‘cute’ and I had to have them – more so because I took into consideration those I’ve already in closet, quality, durability, and versatility.
Tho the splurge is allowed, budget does have the end say. So to provide ya’ll a thorough round up, I’ve made sure to include a lower priced option for each of the categories shared today.
